Russian vets recently returned from a visit to Norway;they are unsatisfied with the food safety control and want to stop all import of fresh fish and fish products from Norway. Norway exports salmon to 120 different markets; only the Russian market has made this criticism.
Norway is the largest exporter of salmon and trout to Russia, having 78 percent of the market. In second place is Chile with 7 percent. In 2012 Norway exported 320.000 tons of fish and fish products to Russia. The export value amounted to €820 million.
