The USA is soon to introduce 25 percent American import tariffs on certain European foods, drinks and other products.
The tariffs will go into effect on October 18. It results from a 15-year dispute over the subsidies which the European Union gives to Airbus, its largest aircraft manufacturer. The import tariffs will especially affect wines from the Loire Valley and northern France.

Only wines with less than 14 percent alcohol will pay the import tax. This affects the cooler climate regions like Sancerre and Muscadet.
