Exports of tea from Sri Lanka for the month of March 2019 totaled 26.4 million kgs, an increase of 0.3 million kgs against the volume of 26.1 million kgs registered for March 2018, according to a report by the Tea Exports Association.

Tea in bags and packets have grown, whilst bulk tea showed a decline compared with the corresponding month of 2018.

On a cumulative basis, all the main categories of export i.e tea in bags, packets and bulk have grown in 2019.
Iraq remains the largest importer of Sri Lankan tea, followed by Turkey & Russia for the period January-March 2019. Meanwhile Iran, Libya, UAE, China & Syria also import large quantities.
