Poland and the Czech Republic are planning to cooperate more closely against illegal waste shipments. The countries signed a declaration about illegal trans frontier waste shipments at the end of February.

The governments also intend to set up a joint working group to develop measures to prevent illegal imports, and to address cases when these imports are found.

These two countries are the main destinations for illegal exports of commercial and industrial waste from their common neighbour Germany. The illegally shipped waste is frequently declared as ‘plastic waste for recycling’.
