Peru should finish the 2018-19 table grape season with exports of 50 million 8.2 kilogram boxes.
This means a 51.5% rise in exports over the previous season, which was severely affected by heavy rains and flooding at the start of 2017. Only 33 million boxes were exported during the 2017-18 campaign.
The current season’s export figure would be a record, higher than the pre-season forecasts of 45 million boxes.
Main import markets for Peruvian grapes were the U.S., China, the Netherlands and the U.K. Approximately half of the boxes of export grapes were shipped from the north of the country, and the other half from the south.
