Although growth in imports and exports through Gothenburg was down slightly in January – September, volumes in the third quarter increased. The most common containerised export goods from Sweden are paper, timber products, industrial components and steel. Imports are mainly everything which is consumed in Sweden. As the Port of Gothenburg handles such a large proportion of Swedish foreign trade, the port notices fluctuations in the economy at an early stage.
