Air cargo volumes on the Asia to North America trade lane have rebounded sharply following the summer slowdown, signalling a robust outlook for the upcoming peak season. Demand on the trans-Pacific corridor continues to accelerate, driven in large part by the ongoing surge in artificial intelligence-related shipments, including high-value technology components and hardware.

Notably, this renewed momentum has persisted despite significant headwinds. Soaring fuel prices and elevated freight rates, which would typically temper demand, have failed to dampen shipper appetite. Instead, forwarders and carriers are reporting consistent booking activity, with capacity tightening as the market moves deeper into the final quarter.

The AI-driven cargo boom is reshaping trans-Pacific trade flows, with shippers prioritising speed and reliability over cost savings. For freight forwarders, this presents both opportunity and challenge, as securing capacity at competitive rates becomes increasingly difficult.
