Ukrainian consumers are increasingly preferring imports of exotic fruits, although there are plenty of local apples at an affordable price. In March alone, imports of citrus increased by purchased 1.8 times.
In March 2019 Ukraine imported 64,000 tons of citrus fruits, which is the highest import figure for at least the last three years. In March 2018, imports of citrus fruits to Ukraine amounted to only 39,000 tons.
The upward trend in citrus imports in Ukraine can be traced throughout the season. At the end of 7 months of the 2018/19 season, the country increased imports of them by 12% compared to the same period in 2017/18.
