Port workers in Finland planned to strike last Friday, but the Finnish Labour Minister used her authority to postpone the strike by two weeks.  In the meantime, a Government mediator has been appointed.  If there is no agreement, the strike will go ahead on 3 March.  The workers are not satisfied with the arrangements which employers are making for severance packages and working conditions.  If the the workers strike in March, the whole logistics and freight industry of Finland will be affected, to the detriment of its exports and balance of trade.
