News / Bomb scare on freight aircraft

Two weeks ago a fake bomb was loaded on a cargo only aircraft destined for Istanbul from the UK. Since December, air freight carriers based in the USA have increased security requiring all customers who do not have a pre-printed shipping label to show a government issued photo identification. This security is not required for customers in other countries at the moment. A man was arrested last week on suspicion of shipping a cake box fitted with a detonator, timer and wiring but no explosive, and has since been released on bail.
