Container dwell times at the Los Angeles-Long Beach port complex climbed to their highest levels in more than a year during July, mirroring a notable rise in import volumes through the gateway.

The increase in dwell times has been compounded by ongoing chassis shortages, which continue to place pressure on equipment availability across the terminals. Local street closures in the surrounding area have further disrupted the smooth flow of cargo, adding to delays for both rail and truck movements.

As a result, shippers and freight forwarders are facing longer waiting periods for containers to be import cleared from the terminals, impacting supply chain efficiency and onward distribution schedules.

At RW Freight, we continue to monitor developments at major global gateways to ensure our clients receive timely updates and tailored solutions to mitigate potential delays. With careful planning and proactive communication, our team works to keep cargo moving smoothly, even during periods of heightened port congestion.
