Belgium has ousted America as Kenya’s top export market for coffee for the first time in a decade.
Belgian Kenyan coffee imports amounted to Sh6.5 billion in the year to June 2021. This was nearly double the imports in the prior year, overtaking the United States as the top buyer of the beverage.
The US has for the last four years been the top importer after toppling Germany in 2018, the position that Berlin had held for a decade.
The US emerged second larget impoprter having bought coffee worth Sh4 billion in the review period.
