It is thought that 57 percent of all Champagne produced in 2022 was exported.
Over 34 million bottles were imported into the United States in 2021. Between 2020 and 2021, U.S. sales volume jumped by nearly 64 percent, according to Comité Champagne. Some producers are restricting sales so that they do not run out of stock later in 2023.
This tactic helps keep pace with worldwide exports, but producers anticipate there may be shortages later.
