In 2023 China has become the second largest market in East Asia for beef exports from the United States; with overall shipments to the region are expected to hit record levels.
US beef exports to China – including Hong Kong – reached a record high of US$2.23 billion in the first 10 months of 2022, an increase of nearly a third from the previous year.
Exports to mainland China and Hong Kong exceeded a value of US$2 billion for the first time last year.
