According to EU statistics. Portugal imported 7,100 tons in 2021, which is 4 percent of the European Union’s honey imports.
Larger imports by volume went to Germany, Poland, Belgium and Spain.
World Bee Day falls on 20 August, and data from the official European statistics was released the day before. EU member states imported 173,400 tons of natural honey from non-EU countries, and only exported 25,500 tons outside the EU.
