The value of U.S. imports of fruit increased by 17% in the year ending April, compared with the same period a year ago.
The USDA said that U.S. imports of fresh/frozen fruit for the period from May 2021 through April 2022 totaled $18.72 billion, an increase of 17% compared with imports of $16.03 billion in the same period a year ago and 24% higher than $15.08 billion two years ago.
U.S. imports of fresh vegetables totaled $10.81 billion for the 12-month period ending in April, an increase of 4.9% from $10.3 billion from the same period a year ago.
