Police in Slovakia are investigating five cases of illegal waste imports to Slovakia from Italy and Poland. Waste had ended up in agricultural and industrial buildings and even loose on the ground.
Cases of illegal waste imports had happened in three out of the eight Slovak regions.
The police intend to carry out intensive checks on this matter, especially at border crossings.
According to a government minister, the illegal export of harmful waste to Slovakia has intensified in recent months. “If we do not pay attention to this, Slovakia will become a dump of Europe,” he said.
