Zimbabwe has lifted a ban on imports of genetically modified corn it begins to take action to avert what is likely to be its worst famine ever.
Weekly imports of white corn reached their highest level in almost seven years, with 13,688 tons imported in week ending January 24.
The millers association said that it had signed up for a monthly supply of 100,000 tons of corn imports from South Africa. Until now there has been little evidence of sufficient corn imports coming into the country.
