Orders from factories in Great Britain increased for a second month in a row in December, as they recovered from a sharp slowdown in October. Manufacturers are growing increasingly concerned about the prospect of a no-deal Brexit, according to the CBI employers’ group which tends to represent only the largest businesses.

A recovery in export orders helped the CBI ‘Industrial trends’ monthly order book remain above average levels. Exports were expected to be rather higher, due to the low exchange rate of the £ Sterling.
