The Fishermen Congress of India have demanded that the government of Goa should lift the ban imposed on imports of fish from other states.

The ban was imposed by Goa Health Department’s Food and Drugs Administration section. The FDA has imposed stringent guidelines on imports of fish.
A delegation from Congress came to meet the Fisheries Minister to demand the import ban be lifted.

“We are here with the demand to lift the ban on import of the fish in Goa. Due to ban the entire trade of fish with Goa has come to a standstill,” said All India Fishermen Congress’ Working Chairman U R Sabhapati.
