Russia’s agriculture safety organisation says it will allow imports of beef and pork from nine Brazilian plants to begin again from Thursday, ending an 11-month ban caused by food safety concerns.
There were temporary restrictions on imports of pork and beef products from Brazil in December 2017 after ractopamine was found in some shipments, a feed additive that is permitted in Brazil but banned in Russia.
This may boost Brazil’s pork exports by 20,000 tonnes this year to 640,000 tonnes in total, Brazilian meat industry group ABPA said.
