Most of Mexico’s auto exports should be able to comply with new rules drawn up under the re-negotiated agreement between Mexico and the United States of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Mexico’s economy minister said.
The minister told reporters that close to 70 percent of Mexico’s auto exports were light vehicles, and were in a position to meet the new NAFTA ‘rules of origin’, which determine the amount of North American content autos must include.
