Cultural goods exports from Turkey, which mainly consists of the exports of handicrafts, has increased by 120 percent in the past five years. The exports value of cultural goods was 17.8 billion Turkish liras ($5.06 billion) in 2015, compared to 8.2 billion liras five years ago.
Cultural goods exports contributed 4.6 percent of the total goods exports from Turkey in 2015, compared with 3.6 percent in 2011.
Data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute indicated that handicrafts made up 70 percent of the total cultural goods exports, followed by exports of audio visual media at 26.4 percent, and the export of books and printed media at 3 percent.
