Hong Kong is banning some imports of poultry from Japan, Israel and Nigeria, after the announcement of avian influenza outbreaks there. The latest ban covers imports of poultry, poultry products and eggs from Okayam prefecture in Japan, Haifa in Israel and Nigeria.
Last year more than 5000 tones of frozen and chilled poultry meat and 20 million poultry eggs were imported from Japan to Hong Kong from January to November.
