Britain’s goods trade deficit widened in May, increased by imports of aircraft, official data showed last week.
The Office for National Statistics said the goods trade deficit grew to just over 9.2 billion pounds from 8.8 billion pounds in April, against a forecast by economists of 8.75 billion pounds.
The UK government has been trying to help the country’s exporters in order to put the economic recovery on a sounder footing. But exports have been hampered by weak demand in the euro zone.
