Now that Russia has joined the World Trade Organsation, exporting countries, especially Finland, are expecting to benefit.  Russia is expected to reduce some import tariffs immediately and others after an interim period.  Taxes on wood exports will probably ease, and Finland has always been a major exporter to Russia due to proximity.

It is hoped that economic growth in Russia will lead to growing demand for Finnish goods and services.
