Customs data shows that South Korea has set a new record for whisky imports in 2023.
There is thanks a growing number of foreign liquor enthusiasts in Korea;a total of 30,586 tons of whisky were imported, which is a significant 13.1 percent increase compared to the previous year.
The total price of whisky imports in 2023 was $259.5 million, down 2.7 percent from a year ago. Consumers sought cost-effective whisky instead of expensive and luxurious products.
The popularity of wine, which was once ranked among South Korea’s favorite drinks, decreased. Wine imports amounted to 56 542 tons in 2023, which was similar to the amount of wine imported in 2020.
