Exports of cars from the USA to Saudi Arabia and China are increasing revenue for shipping vessel operators.

The U.S.A exported a record 1.8 million cars and light trucks last year. Exports rose another 8.9 percent in the first 10 months of 2013, according to Commerce Department data. The U.S.A imports about twice as many cars as it sends overseas, so more export shipments help shipping companies improve their revenue as ships don’t go back empty.
