US-imposed tariffs on imports from the EU have meant that for over a year, Scottish export products, including single malt Scotch whisky, cheese and cashmere clothing, have faced tariffs of 25%. This is due to a long-running dispute between the US and the EU over subsidies for aircraft manufacturers. The US says this gives EU manufacturers an unfair advantage in export markets.
The Scottish export products have no connection to the aerospace industry, but are suffering as a result.
