Ireland is hoping to increase its exports of agri-food products like dairy goods, meat and seafood.  They are forecasting that shipments will grow by nearly 42 per cent by 2020 from the average in 2007 to 2009.

The sector is reliant on exports, but is competing with New Zealand, which has a free trade agreement with China.  Ireland will have to pay higher import tariffs.
