Wenzhou, in the provide of Zhejiang in China, is one of the main regions for the manufacture of spectacles.  Manufacturers there are expecting to reduce production by about 20% this year because of falling demand from Europe.

Last year, the total value of their exports was 7 billion yuan. The city’s spectacles exports account for almost one third of that of the whole of China.  The bulk of the exports go to the USA and Europe.
