Wine and beer exports from Canada ran dry early in the year as the pandemic closed bars and restaurants around the world.

Since COVID-19 first stultified global trade, Canada’s wine makers and brewers have sought solutions to continue export trade. Some are seeing modest gains in sales but uncertainty reigns.

Allowing for ocean freight lead times, a lot of the Christmas season orders are already complete.

One Canada winery has been selling its red and ice wines in China and Taiwan since the 1990s and currently ships products to more than 38 countries, including Europe. Almost 50% its business is devoted to export.
