Thai National Shippers’ Council predicts that exports this year will be down 2.5-3% on earlier expectations. They consider their currency value is too high against the dollar.

The council saw no positive factors for exports but the negative factors included the trade war between China and the United States, the baht’s appreciation and the protests in Hong Kong.

China and the US have yet to agree on many trade issues, including US farm products and intellectual property protection.
