A new container shipping company is launching a new service based on the ‘no frills’ airline model.   The company is running a service direct from the Taicang Gateway, north of Shanghai to California.  The service is due to start on 17th April.  Having raised finance in Oslo, the company is intending to buy up idle ships for bargain prices and keep management costs to a minimum by concentrating on the client segment which regularly supplies reasonable levels of container freight.  The new company will avoid any awkward cargo and should be able to take freight in this geographical sector with their lower freight rates.
