Namibia will suspend imports of controlled crops -butternuts, cabbages and onions– between April and August because production in the country is expected to improve.

Total domestic demand for onions is 3,470 tons, while local farmers are expected to produce 5,440 tons. The demand for cabbage is 1,445 tons, and local farmers are expected to produce 1,771 tons. The total demand for butternuts is 805 tons, while local farmers are expected to supply 1,175 tons.

It will be necessary to import potatoes, as local farmers will only manage to supply 6,469 tons of the 14,160 tons needed during the five months.
