Unions in Norway have warned that up to 25 000 private sector workers may go out on strike as from Monday April 1st if last-ditch mediation on this year’s labour and wages negotiations with the unions fail.
If this goes ahead, the transport, road haulage, warehousing, shipping and freight industries are likely to be affected.
Starting on Saturday, a state mediator will attempt to broker a deal before a deadline on Sunday. Smaller strikes often happen in Norway but major conflicts are rare.
If a strike does happen, the two main unions could gradually escalate it to include some 190,000 people.
