A recent report released by the Italian leathergoods industry shows that the leathergoods sector exported products worth almost €6.8 billion in the first 10 months of 2018. This was an increase of 10.3%.
In 2017 the value of exports increased 13.2% year-on-year and set a new full-year record.

In terms of volume, leathergoods exports dropped by 5.7%.

The average price per kg increased 17% to more than €134.

The EU is still the most important export market for Italian leathergoods. Exports to countries in the EU increased 7% year-on-year during the first ten months of 2018, although these are not strictly exports but inter-community movements. Exports increased in value to Switzerland (+23.4%), France (+9.1%) the UK (+12.7%) and Germany (+11.7%).
