According to the country’s statistical office, the total volume of goods exports from the Netherlands shrank by 2.2 percent in December 2018 relative to the year previously. The strongest declines in December were in the export of electro-technical equipment and chemical products. Exports of machinery and petroleum products increased. Import volume was 1.7 percent higher than in December 2017.

Overall growth in both imports and exports is influenced by a large company which relocated part of its business to another country in October 2018.
