One of the complaints at the Rail Freight Group Conference last week was that rail freight operators are very slow to quote for business, in comparison with road freight operators.  The response to this complaint was that calculations involved for rail are far more complicated – but this answer is unlikely to satisfy customers, who do not understand why the railways cannot be more aware of their needs.
