A new freight terminal opened in Tianjin in Northern China last April and this year has gained security Certification from the Transported Asset Protection Association.  This has allowed the air terminal to increase the volume of freight from international carriers.  The overall reduction in demand has not affected northern China as badly as southern China and Shanghai, but even so volumes through Tianjin dropped in March and April this year after a period of sustained increases.
