As the only port in Scandinavia with a comprehensive deepsea network, the port of Gothenburg has managed to attract shipping lines serving India and North Americal; it has also aquired four new services to Russia in 2009. It is also at the forefront of the development of rail freight within Sweden; there are now 24 rail shuttles with daily departures to 22 towns throughout Sweden. 50% of containerised export freight arrives at the port by rail shuttle – an unusually high figure.
