An application is being made to build a new container shipping terminal in Scotland.  Whilst passenger ferry services from Rosyth to Zeebrugge have ceased, the shipping line announced that it may continue to use the route as a RoRo freight only service and would double the number of sailings for a trial period.

Now Babcock Marine is going to lodge plans with Fife Council next month to convert part of the Rosyth dockyard to an international container base.  If there is a multimodal container terminal on the East Coast, this may help the shipping line to confirm its intention to continue with the freight sailings and it may also attract European container feeder services.
