The container port of Shanghai in China saw freight volume throughput decline by 10.7% in 2009, but volumes recovered during the last quarter enabling the Shanghai International Port Group to show a profit. Port bosses are predicting that 2010 will be a better year, but that cargo volumes will be uncertain until the prospects for the European and USA economies are more stable.
