Industrial action by postal workers is persuading shippers to consider express freight and parcel carriers as an alternative. Parcelforce was actually un-affected by the industrial action, but in spite of this customers lost confidence in the Royal Mail in general, and some major shippers switched to private carriers. Express freight carries are seeing an increase in enquiries and are developing their services to compete with second class post.
