The Channel tunnel re-opened to freight early this morning after the fire which had broken out on Thursday evening was finally brought under control.  The tunnel where the fire broke out will remain closed whilst authorities in France investigate the causes of the fire.  The fire caused chaos for both passenger and freight traffic from France and England, with lorries backed up for miles in Dover and Calais.  Priority will be given to freight traffic whilst only one tunnel in operation.
