The speed of the regular freight train service between Lianyungang in China and Moscow is set to increase with improvements in border formalities and higher train speeds. The rail freight service is already about 16 times cheaper than air freight, and once the improvements have been made, it will be nearly three times as fast as sea freight. The container block trains are aimed at operators and freight forwarders, and the service provider guarantees that they will make the equipment available within five working days of a booking being made. The faster service is currently being tested, and if successful will be provided regularly every 7 – 10 days.
