Container shipping rates from India to the rest of the world are on the rise, in comparison with tanker and bulk shipping rates.  Shipping volumes have increase from India to Europe, Ease Africa and the Mediterranean and freight rates have increased almost three times from their lowest level.  India’s most important export markets are Europe and the USA, and a major shipping line recently announced a new service from the south and east of India to Europe.  However, there is concern that freight rates may fall as tonnage increases.
