Train drivers in Germany have begun a strike about pay and working conditions. The strike began on freight rail lines at 8.00 pm yesterday, and passenger drivers are now following their lead. The main centre of the strike for freight train drivers was in Eastern Germany – about six hundred trains were delayed by this morning. Many logistics and freight operators are having to use road truck for their deliveries. The union is hoping that the strike will force the operators to make an offer which can be the basis for negotiation.
