The civil unrest, protest and demonstrations are disrupting the supply chain, making life difficult for freight and logistics suppliers. As one of the worlds’ largest importers of wheat, this is likely to affect the population in months to come.  Air Freight operations are unlikely to take place normally, as many airlines have cancelled or re-routed aircraft. Import and export clearances are not being processed by the Customs authorities and the ports are currently closed. Shipping lines are denying that they are sending ships around the Cape of Good Hope due to the closure of the Suez canal.  The indications are that the canal will stay open, but the situation can change daily.
