EU Regulation 3118/93/EEC allows a Road haulier registered in one country to collect and deliver a transport load within another EU cuntry where they are of a temporary nature. This is known as cabotage and the Dft has stated that for such operations to be legal they must be entirely ad hoc, casual, circumstantial and at infrequent intervals. There are additional restrictions on hauliers based in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia concerning cabotage until 2009.
